IN KONTINUO - Exodus of the Children of Aegean Macedonia
1998 - Macedonia
Trajche Popov, Kuzman Georgievski
This film was made in 1998 and was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Exodus of the children from the Aegean part of Macedonia during the Greek Civil War.
Using historical facts, archival material and actual film footage, the film tells the story of the genocide of the Macedonian people in this part of Macedonia. In the spring of 1948, over 28.000 Macedonian children left Greece and sought refuge across the border into the Vardar part of Macedonia and eventually into other countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The archival footage depicts the children leaving as well as showing film taken in both world wars.
Trajche Popov is a film director, cameraman and sriptwriter.
He finished high school in his native town and in 1945 he attended a journalist's course. Consequently, he became a reporter of the TANJUG journalist agency in the district of Veles. In Belgrade in 1946 he attended the course for independent cameramen and directors organized by the Committee of Cinematography of the Federative People's Republic of Yugoslavia and became a reporter of the "Zvezda Film" film newsreel.
